I'm poor, and don't have the money to acquire a surefire pumphandle light for my mossberg. my father has one for his defender, and i'm currently in the process of making a flashlight body that has 6P type exterior dimensions (i've access to a full machine shop) and has the interior battery stop. this light will mount to a mil1913 rail that i'll install on the pumphandle of my mossberg.

anyway, I have a couple questions in regards to Surefire universal weaponlights and mountings for same:

can i acquire just a short tape switch and end cap?

does surefire sell a 9 or 12 volt lamp assembly that has the same dimensions as the ones used in the 6P?

are there any good QD type mounts for mounting flashlights on a 1913 rail? (I'd like something that's reasonably low profile, snug, andshort enough that i can use the dismounted light as a handheld if need be.)

what's the best location for the light? I've seen them mounted directly below the barrel, and at various positions to either side before. what are the pros/cons of each arrangement?

Can you get just the tail cap & tape switch?
Yes

9v or 12v bulb with same dimensions?
There's a "brighter" 6P like bulb but I can't recall the model number. Whatever you get, make sure it's the weapon light bulb for recoil purposes.

QD mounts?
My partner used a regular Weaver ring & base for his set-up.

Location on forearm?
6 o'clock is probably most. Depending on your sling set up, that may or may not work out. If it doesn't, my suggestion would be 3 or 9, based on which one is the easiest for you to activate the button depending on how you grip the forearm.

Try Wayne Lagger, www.lpstactical.com ...I can't remember his phone number off the top of my head.
