Jax June 23, 2006, 12:50 PM Breaking news. Transportation Secretary Mineta is resigning effective July 7th.
http://us.cnn.com/2006/POLITICS/06/23/mineta.resigns.ap/index.html
Perhaps now President Bush will hire someone who will actively look out for the best interests of the country - rather than another empire builder. [Yeah, right, like that'll ever happen]

Henry Bowman June 23, 2006, 01:32 PM Amen!
longeyes June 23, 2006, 01:44 PM Bush wanted him, didn't he? You think Bush is going to do anything but replace him with another Mineta? Look for that slot to be replaced with a PC-approved "consensus-builder."
HankB June 23, 2006, 02:38 PM Keeping Mineta on was one of Bush's absolute WORST personnel blunders during his entire political career.
romma June 23, 2006, 02:59 PM Keeping Mineta on was one of Bush's absolute WORST personnel blunders during his entire political career.
Now that's saying something... :uhoh:
The-Fly June 23, 2006, 03:21 PM not being at all familar with Mineta or his reign, what was his negatives ?
Wiley June 23, 2006, 06:01 PM As the song says: 'Thank God and Greyhound!'.
not being at all familar with Mineta or his reign, what was his negatives ?
Democratic ex-Senator, very anti, in large measure prevented airline pilots from being armed.
The-Fly June 23, 2006, 06:10 PM ahhhh. Good riddance then.
Sergeant Bob June 23, 2006, 09:00 PM So, I guess all the pilots will be armed now, we can carry knives on planes, and I don't have to have a TSA mandated criminal background check and fingerprinting to drive a truck now?
Cool!
lwaldron June 23, 2006, 09:13 PM Mineta was also very much opposed to profiling. With a replacement secretary of Transportation, there's at least some chance they'll stop frisking grannies and start paying attention to young, Arab males.
Oleg Volk June 23, 2006, 10:17 PM Maybe he'd now have the decency to kill himself in some place with a sizeable scavenger population.
GoRon June 23, 2006, 10:34 PM He must have pics of Bush or Cheney in a compromising situation. He was the worse man for the job after 9/11.
shooter94 June 23, 2006, 10:54 PM Think I'll pop open a beer and celebrate!:D
CCWMAN June 23, 2006, 11:01 PM Hello folks,
I'm a new member. He was no friend of gunowners-that's for damn sure! I will not miss him.
Otherguy Overby June 23, 2006, 11:33 PM Minneta is the worst form of political scum. He needs to room with bubba the butt ranger for the rest of his life.
His kids should be neutered.
Standing Wolf June 23, 2006, 11:58 PM Good riddance to bad rubbish!
captain obvious June 24, 2006, 01:34 AM Thank God! Finally!
HankB June 24, 2006, 05:39 PM not being at all familar with Mineta or his reign, what was his negatives ?Well, among other things, just a couple of weeks before 9/11, he issued a directive prohibiting the use of profiling to give closer scrutiny to those fitting a certain profile, in particular young Middle Eastern males traveling alone. And even after 9/11, his department continued on a crusade against profiling.
longeyes June 24, 2006, 06:15 PM Mineta was obsessed with Manzanar. Wrong guy, wrong time, wrong place.
xd9fan June 26, 2006, 12:46 PM Maybe he'd now have the decency to kill himself in some place with a sizeable scavenger population.
LOL:D
Its good to get these emotions out dont hide it.....lol
For me......Hope the door does kick his a$$ on the way out.....
StopTheGrays June 26, 2006, 01:27 PM Maybe now Tommy Thompson will finally get his dream job. He wanted that post since W got elected in 2000. I do not know how well he would do but I doubt he could do worse.
Maybe Mineta's replacement will move the the training center for arming pilots to someplace closer to civilization to make it easier for them to go thru the program.
Kim June 26, 2006, 11:17 PM Also he is a true beliver in that money pit called Amtrack. It has never made a penny. It needs to go. Maybe keep the NE trains that enough people actually use. But know those like him would never quit putting money in that pit cause the idology love mass transportation. Even if hardly no one uses it.
Art Eatman June 26, 2006, 11:55 PM Kind of a tossup between Minetta and John Magaw of BATF fame. It's just that Minetta had the higher job...
