Democratic ex-Senator, very anti, in large measure prevented airline pilots from being armed.

Mineta was also very much opposed to profiling. With a replacement secretary of Transportation, there's at least some chance they'll stop frisking grannies and start paying attention to young, Arab males.

Maybe he'd now have the decency to kill himself in some place with a sizeable scavenger population.

He must have pics of Bush or Cheney in a compromising situation. He was the worse man for the job after 9/11.

not being at all familar with Mineta or his reign, what was his negatives ?Well, among other things, just a couple of weeks before 9/11, he issued a directive prohibiting the use of profiling to give closer scrutiny to those fitting a certain profile, in particular young Middle Eastern males traveling alone. And even after 9/11, his department continued on a crusade against profiling.

Mineta was obsessed with Manzanar. Wrong guy, wrong time, wrong place.

Maybe now Tommy Thompson will finally get his dream job. He wanted that post since W got elected in 2000. I do not know how well he would do but I doubt he could do worse.

Maybe Mineta's replacement will move the the training center for arming pilots to someplace closer to civilization to make it easier for them to go thru the program.

Also he is a true beliver in that money pit called Amtrack. It has never made a penny. It needs to go. Maybe keep the NE trains that enough people actually use. But know those like him would never quit putting money in that pit cause the idology love mass transportation. Even if hardly no one uses it.

Kind of a tossup between Minetta and John Magaw of BATF fame. It's just that Minetta had the higher job...
