By M4 you mean an AR15 with a 16" GL-cut barrel, A3 upper and a telestock, right?
They are made by a number of manufacturers.

All of the above makers produce something close or identical to an Army M4, semi of course.
Hope this helps,
B.

I should add, while the DPMS and OlyArms sticker prices are closer to what you might like, I'm a bigger fan of the other three brands, especially Bushmaster.
Regarding aftermarket accessories...anything imaginable and practical for a semi auto 223 rifle has most likely already be produced for the AR15.
They are an aftermarket-gadgeteer's dream.

I just got one made out of (mostly) Double Star parts. I like it a lot.

The Sportsmans Warehouse down the road has Bushmaster A2 carbines and A4 rifles for $869.
A2 is the standard model and the A4 has the detachable carry handle.

www.rockriverarms.com Look up their entry tactical model. I absolutely love mine, great fit and finish and very accurate. Try www.eaglefirearms.net I got mine from there and their prices are very good. Stag Arms also seems to have earned an excellent reputation.
