Hi

Any members here shoot or buy the new Smith and Wesson 8shot .357 DA revolver? It is black with a rail for lights/lasers. It retails for around $1200.00 and I wonder if it's worth it.

Thanks;

RS

I have shot one. For me, it is not worth the money.
The 327 TRR8 Tactical is an alloy frame revolver, with a rail as you mentioned.
Recoil with medium and heavy .357mag loads, was heavier out of the 327 than the 627.
The alloy frame and rail, were huge deal breakers for me.
I will stick with the all steel 627 with no rail.

I have handled and dry fired the 327 TR8, and shoot the 627 in ICORE. I concur, the 10 + ounces you give up for the alloy frame is a move away from goodness. If it was steel, I would consider it, but right now I think the 627 is still supreme in .357.

I tried both and bought the 627 (PC Model). Whereas the 327 was lighter, the 627 is a tack driver. Also, there's not a .357 load out there not comfortable to shoot in the 627 - same cannot be said about the lighter 327.
