Perceived recoil

I shot two of my 45s today. A Combat Commander (all steel) and a Sig
P220ST.

The loads were identical. Yet the Sig definitely stressed my wrist (tendonitis) more than the Colt.

Ergonomics?

Anybody ever notice this phenomenon?

Ergoniomics is certainly a big factor.
Another is the weight of gun to payload ratio.

Still, IMO / IME even a Lightweight Commander has less percieved recoil than some other platforms, be they all steel, or polymer -simply because of the Ergonomics of the 1911 and the 45ACP ctg is a "gentle push" vs a 'sharp recoil' such as the .40 exhibits.
