Why doesn't Colt make revolvers anymore? I mean, they have the Python and Anacando, which I'm sure are great, but they are expensive. They don't advertise revolvers. This is where Colt's roots are. The first wheelgun. They need to make a service model revolver that can compete with Smith's in the price range. Heck, they need something in the $500 price range. Sam Colt would be ashamed.

Sam Colt IS ashamed. No craftsman or craftsman ship in mass produced American products. Why do the Japanese make all those beautiful browning patent gun's. Japanese workers and American works make the same $ currently. I could go on and on , why bother it's a dead issue. I bought a new S&W mountain gun a few months ago and it was a mis machined turd. How could quality control people let out a canted rear sight cut? Were they blind like me when I bought it ? I returned it the next day and it's back on sale again-unrepaired(they told store they 'couldn't fix it'). New Colt series 70's seem to be VERY nice, nicer than anything else out there, Just replace MIM internals and fit properly and they should be the best. THATS HOPEFUL! Newer AR-15's (Colts) look crappy but there is a lot of goodun's out there(not in Kali:( ).

Why? Why do you think? Money. Colt had only a small market share in revolvers and was losing money on each one they made. So they dropped almost the entire revolver line. A lot of people cried "conspiracy" (a lot of people cry "conspiracy" if the beer goes flat), but no company can afford to keep losing money just to satisfy a tiny number of traditionalists.
Now, where were all the Colt fans when they were making those guns? It seems some folks only want something after their own apathy forces it off the market.

I thought you could still order Colt Anacondas from Colt's custom shop?

I quite frankly do not believe S&W did/would say such a thing. I think maybe your dealer didn't call them at all?
I just dealt with S&W warranty service and it was fantastic. Turn around time was 7 days and I didn't even fool with my dealer!
I think he fed you a line because he didn't wanna mess with it.

I've been treated very well by both S&W and Colt service departments. Both have done what I've asked, done it well, at a reasonable price and in a reasonable amount of time. I haven't used either service in a couple of years but I wouldn't hesitate to do so if I needed to.

Webhobbit: I think you are correct, BUT how would you fix a frame thats machined off center other than replaceing it and I personally have Never seen a manufacturer do that because that would constitute a new gun and attendant registration issues.:banghead:

I don't think there would be registration issues if they melted the original & then used the same serial number on the new one. I think that's how they do it.

Colt is still kind'a sort'a more or less maybe almost nearly vaguely approximately in the revolver business. There's a four-inch stainless Python in a display case at a gun shop several miles from my house. The price tag is $1,059. The single action trigger pull is at least six pounds. The same shop has lots of Rugers with smoother finishes, and even some of the Italian copies looked better.
I predict Colt will be out of business in a year.
