Fixed a jammed 9mm Hi-Point tonight.

That sucker was jammed up good, used a mini-leatherman tool and held the slide back with the other hand to get the shell out that was stuck sideways between the barrel opening and the extractor.
My first experience with Hi-Points at the range
To the Hi-Points credit, I doubt it was lubricated and I think the guy who I fixed it for was 2 cans short of a six pack as he stuck his target on the 100 yard rifle post and spent about 10 minutes doing it.
Comments Tropical Z?

Was this the carbine? Did you get it new? I thought Hi-Points weren't supposed to jam ever!:neener: I remember you saying that you were going to get a Hi Point to test out, was this the one or was it someone else's gun?

It wasn't mine, it belonged to some other dude. I would never buy one of those fugly you know whats ;)
I don't think I ever said I would want to test one out, although I'd rent one at an indoor range just for the heck of it. I think I said that the 9mm carbine looked like it might be kinda fun, that's all :D
It wasn't a carbine though, it was a 9mm autopistol. Whatever Hi-Point model that is...let me look...
Ok, I found a pic online it was one of these...

Looked identical, only it had the extended magazine inserted shown on the left. The magazine wouldn't even come out until I removed the jammed shell, I don't know why. The guy sure as heck couldn't get the jammed cartridge out himself.

Was it new or something? Most guns need breaking in. I found that out with the $600 Kimber.;)

It definately looked new. And I seriously doubt it was lubricated. I'm sure this was the first time this guy had it out to shoot as he didn't have a clue what he was doing either, but I don't think he had shot more than 10 rounds through it before this happened. He didn't fire it anymore and left soon after.

I've never owned a centerfire autopistol that has jammed more than once in the first thousand rounds. And believe me, I've owned some lemons!
Sorry, I've never posted on shooters.com, but I've heard of it. Might be someone else with my name or a similiar one

the best place to fix one of these pistols is to throw it in the river or lake........:banghead:
The question is, was he hitting the target at 100 yards ?

Hehe, I seriously doubt it, but I don't know.
However, he did manage to remove the other guys target (who was next to us shooting rifle) when he fixed his own target which is another reason why I believe all of his dogs were not barking :D
