I was changing my machine over from small to large tonight, and just became really irritated with the process. Not enough to buy a second machine,as some have, but jeez- there must be a better way? For as well thought out as the Dillon products are, the priming system really leaves a lot to be desired.

I don't find the changeover too tedious; however, you might consider buying a spare priming system. Then you'd only have to remove the two screws and slap the new system in. (Of course, you'd have to replace the primer punch, but that shouldn't be too difficult for you.)

Actually, the primer punch is the part I find the worst. Impossible to work a wrench in that small space.

I dont mind it that much either. THe punch can be a real pain smetimes if it is stuck. THose allen wrenches with the balls on the ends make taking the bolts out easier though.

I don't recall ever having a problem removing/replacing the primer punch. Just not an issue with me. You do raise the ram prior to removing, I hope?? ;)

Mike Dillon told me to hold the ram arm down the whole way. Damnit! No wonder it's so much trouble. :)

changing the priming punch is the pits. Precisely.

Nor do I have any brilliant ideas, other than to remove the primer catcher bin.

Heck, maybe I should buy another one. If I had the spare money, anyway. Sigh...

C'mon Chuck, it's still easier to put together a couple hundred rounds with a 650 than with any single stage, isn't it?

Ever notice how spoiled we are? I stand in front of a microwave heating up a cup of coffee and tap my foot, impatient. Scary.

I consider the XL650 Dillon's best..........

Mr. Murbach have any comment?

These comments are the exact reason I went with the Pro2000 and not the dillon. I admit thought the 650 with a case feeder was a hard choice.

I consider the primer issue minor at best. I could not be happier with the 650, had it 7 or 8 years now. Yes, the casefeeder rocks! Wish they would come up with a bullet feeder!

The primer issue is very minor. Once you lube up the punch it comes out easer with your fingers. THe 650 rocks.

Holding the ram arm down is exactly what I said. How do you raise the ram without lowering the ram arm?? ;)

Changing primer setup from large to small, on a progressive? This gives you fits, you say? In the time it took you to read this post, I can change out the primer set up on my RCBS 2000 with the APS strip.

Honest. There is just one plug that unscrews from the bottom. Takes about 30 seconds.
