586 refinished

I've got a nickel S&W 586 6" that looks pretty nice. Butt, I think it may be a refinish. Doesn't S&W denote refinishes by putting a stamp on the guns they refinish? If it is redone, it's pretty well done, and I understand the factory restores to almost new appearance.

Saxon,
The 586 is a carbon-steel gun that came either blued or nickle plated.

My nickle 4" has AEM before the serial it is factory nickle. Hope that helps.

Thanks for responses. I'm pretty sure S&W stamps a single letter code on guns it refinishes. To clarify: The gun looks great, but I'm curious about if Smith refinished it.

Try giving them a call they should be able to tell you. Since its a 586 it can't be all that old.
