I am trying to clean this thing real good because I know it hasn't been clean since at the very least 1994, and that would have only been the bore if anything. Its my dads and he got it around '70-'73. (side note: what year did Winchester switch to the model 1300?)

Anyways, I have the slides forearm off (the wood, not the mechanism), the barrel off, and the tube spring out. I am wonder how to go about disassembling the action. It looks like the only thing that is could be is a pin above the trigger?

Any help would be great. I haven't found a thing on Google.

( the pictures suck, but the text should help. just remember how you took it apart. if need be take pictures along the way and we can make a "service guide" for others who may need it!)

The Army TM (technical manual) for the Model 1200 Riot Gun is online at http://www.bowtools.com/Articles/Gun_Manuals/tm9100530314/ , if you have Adobe downloaded you can view it easily. If not, Adobe is free software. And the owner's manual for the 1300 is online at http://www.bowtools.com/Articles/Gun_Manuals/winchester_model1300_manual.pdf as well, the two designs are very similar IIRC. It too requires Adobe to read.

And there's an exploded drawing identifying part numbers at http://www.urban-armory.com/diagrams/win1200.htm if you ever break anything.

Thanks for posting the link to the Army field manual.

I have a Sears Model 200 pump which is a 1200 except for not having the "V" cut at the back of the receiver. I was working part time at Sears in the sporting goods department when one was returned because the adjustible choke was not concentric with the bore. We gave the customer a new one and I bought this one for $25. I went over to the hardware dept and took a pipe cutter and cut the barrel down to 18 1/4". I then ordered a 28" modified barrel for it for hunting. That was 34 years ago.

I have always wondered, what is the difference between a 1200, and a 1300?

Well I got it. I didn't do the trigger assembly, but one day I will clean that good.

I went ahead and documented it with pictures. I am gonna add text in a little while. I think I am gonna do a few more for my rifles and handguns.
http://www.battletone.com/guns I went ahead and made one for my P90 too. :D

Outlaws - Great pics and instruction. You have fine taste in pistols as well. I love my P90DC, it just fits me perfect and will cycle anything it is fed.

I have a 1300 and I am no expert! The only difference I see from the picture's ( great job btw ) is that after you remove the barel slideing the forestock ahead, slides everything out without removeing any screws and no pin.

Thanks. I have always wanted to do that I just needed a little motivation. Well, that and I was scared a Model 94 incident would happen again. (thats where I was cleaning my Model 94 and looked towards the TV and almost everything inside it fell out onto the ground and I had ZERO idea what it was supposed to looked like inside.)

You can download factory owners manuals (with disassembly instructions) for many Winchester firearms in PDF format directly fom their website:http://www.winchesterguns.com/prodinfo/om/index.asp

The factory manuals you can download only cover removing the barrel and trigger group. They show no further disassembly :( Outlaw's expose is awesome.

Just finished cleaning the innards of my gun with the help of Outlaws excellent instructions. It went through a fire in my parents attic. A little CLP and steel wool and the soot is gone. Almost looks like new. Now if I could just figure out how to get a plug in it and what choke it is, I'd be all set.

Mine is the Sears version 1200 (Ted Williams Model 200). Anyone know how to tell what choke is in the barrel? Could not find any markings.

(Old thread, I know)

Xavier, my Win 1200 is chambered for 2 3/4" & 3" shells. So the 1300 is not the only one.
