I have a CZ 83 that on the slide says "Cal. 9 Browning". I believe this is the same as .380 acp perhaps just an older name for it. Please confirm my assumptions or let me know if there is a difference. Thanks.

Yes, it's a .380, that's just one if it's european names. The full name being 9mm Browning Court or 9mm Browning Short. Some Europeans also leave out the Browning part just calling it the 9mm Court or 9mm Short. Also known as 9mm Kurz, or 9mm Corto in some countries.

For that pistol, yes, 9 Browning is the same as .380 ACP, 9x17, 9mm Kurz, 9mm Short. Do not, however, confuse those terms with 9 Browning Pistol or the 9mm Browning Long cartridge.

I thought the 9mm Corto was a 9x21 sized round in Spain for some oddball military gun they had? I don't know, all this nomenclature stuff gets confusing. LOL I've heard the other names applied to the .380.
OH, wait, edit, I'm thinking about the 9mm LARGO. Sorry.
