View Full Version : I hate Wal-Mart

I just went into Wally World today to get a few speaker connectors. I thought I might as well pick up a couple hundred rounds of Remington 7 1/2 12ga while I was there. I made the mistake of going past the guns and there was this very lonely looking Winchester 1300 Deluxe whispering sweet nothings through the plexi-glass. Needless to say them damn connectors cost me an extra chunk of change. Think my wife will believe they are top quality connectors and they just cost that much? :scrutiny: I didn't think so either. :o Shore is purdy though.

Tempted and tried, we're
Oft made to wonder
Why it should be thus
All the day long...
Cheer up my brother
Live in the sunshine.
We'll understand it
All by and by.
Hope your wife is an understanding woman. If not, I hope she likes the 1300 too... if you have to fall to a siren song, better it be a pretty shotgun than a pretty girl. Some Cinderellas are less trouble than others...

my walmart stoped selling guns :( and their ammo sellection is poor, old, and way too exspensive. they wanted like 6$ for a box of 8 shot. where i can get it at a local shop for 4.50 if not less

1300 Deluxe is a NICE pumpgun!
This may be your last chance to ever get one NIB. She ought to understand that!:D

I had no idea Linda, Dolly, and Emmylou were singing about shotguns, but God bless 'em, it really works, doesn't it?

It's sort of speaker related.. it's a sub-sub-woofer. Can't really enoy the 1812 overture without it.

'Hog,
That one's a lot older than Emmylou, Dolly and Linda all added up I'd guess. Was singing it in church myownself when I was just a wee tyke a long time ago, and that was before any of those ladies got famous- didn't even have to look up the lyrics to type 'em after all these years. It just seemed to fit the situation is all. Some folks have a weakness for fast cars, some for polished blued steel and oil finished walnut, always one thing or another with different folks. Just part of being human is all.
Gotta give the ladies credit, they sure did a fine job on that song... heck, whole album is good. (_Trio_ is the name of it if anyone is interested)

Wallyworld seems to have a bigger selection of airsoft than real guns nowadays... they "look" like a lot of fun... I half want to pick one up just for funsies.
Thankfully, the wallyworld here still has reasonable prices on ammo.. for such a big company, I really expected them to be cheaper... espec on .223.. cheapest I saw last time was 18$ for 40 varmint rds.:fire:

The wallyworld in Longview, WA had approx 12 or so rifles and 8 or 10 shotguns. Not many but usually a few more or less depending on the season. There was a gent there who could not believe I would buy the 1300 instead of spending $55 or so more dollars for a Charles Daly semi-auto. :banghead: I just passed on commenting, don't think it would have gotten through.

A buddy of mine just bought one of those Charles Daly's to use for sporting clays. He's brand new to clay shooting and he ignored my advice to buy something a little more reliable. If I had known he was going to buy the CD, I would have told him to get a pump gun instead.
The bolt-close button is on the lower LEFT side of the receiver. Also, you have to hold the button down to unlock the carrier and insert shells into the magazine. It's the worse design on a semi-auto shotgun I've ever seen.

Even in rural Indiana some of the Wal-marts have phased out of guns. The one in Rochester sold their last two 3 1/2" 11-87 autos for $89. If I'd have been there when they were marked down they'd be mine.

I was at the store when our local Wally discontinued sales....Three salesmen collected 4-6 rifles each under their arms, banging and clanging together. I followed them like a lost pup all the way to the back doors, first trying to figure out what was going on, then trying to make a deal on a 700 that I'd been keeping an eye on. Receiving no reply, I ended up staring through the stockroom door window as they carted off the 700, nearly dropping it twice.

Doesn't really fit in the shotgun forum, but yeah...I was wandering through my local Wally World a while back, and stumbled across the Mossberg ATR-100.
Bolt-action .30-06, synthetic [black] stock, some sort of parkerized finish. Went home with me that day.
Always wanted a bolt rifle in .30-06, so now I have it.

Do what I do. Put a lampshade on the gun. Bring it into the house. "Honey, look at this new lamp!" She takes one look and says, "That thing is horrible! Take it into your own room!"
"Ok."

Lee,
I probably should have known that, but the version from that album is the only one I'm familiar with. Yes, it's a great album.
To tie this all together, a few weeks ago at the state sporting clays shoot, one of the guys on my squad mentioned that he had a 30 inch Browning 425 with a boxful of Briley choke tubes he wanted to sell and I'm very, very tempted. Can't see it for a couple weeks yet though, so I'm reduced to Googling for similar examples.

I don't hate walmart I just don't like some of the, lets see how can I put this uninformed people that work there.
Last year I went to buy my deer tags and the guy at the counter didn't know what they looked like. He was pulling out fishing licences, stamps, quota cards, hunting licences ect. Showing each one to me asking "is this it" I finally asked if I could come behind the counter and look for them myself but he said no.
I ended up leaving:rolleyes: and went to gander mountain.;) There things were just fine.:)

What a great idea but she has already asked when we are going out to shoot "our" new shotgun. I guess there are much worse things than having I wife that likes to shoot.

I wish there was an easy way to learn which Wal-Marts are discontinuing gun sales. I picked up a Mini-14 for $299 on closeout from one of them. :neener: :neener:

I bought a couple things at Walmart this evening... The sporting goods associate said it was an interesting combination...
gunpowder and apple pie...

man, that pie must of been.... a blast! hahaha ;) :p , ya. im retarded haha
so my walmart doesnt cary arms, as i stated before. and thier ammo selection is lacking and exspensive. ( MA resident :( and damn ashamed)
well i was at walmart again today and was thinking. i could try to express my disaproval of them no longer carying arms but NOT buying from them ( ammo and outdoors supplys) but then again that would only make them think theres no market for the gear. basicly im asking
should i pay expensive prices to show theres a market? or should i protest thier prices and lack of arms and possibly let them think theres no market? what do you guys think?

It was really, umm, "Unique"... :D

When the condensation pan/trap on the AC sprung leak and the repair man said it would be a while before he could make it by with a replacement, it became the basis of one of my more unusual WallyWorld purchases.
I ended up with an 80 pack of disposable diapers and a camo Remy 597.
Later I shot a few of the water logged diapers to see what would happen.

This may be the last chance to get one cheap, but if available unfired colt Thompsons are any indication, you won't have any trouble getting a brand new 1300 in the future if you are willing to open your wallet. Besides, who cares about "unfired"? What fun is that?

The Wally store I go to still has guns---but I did pick up a Remington Super Full turkey choke tube on clearance for $4.50 today.
