I'm looking for a safe that will fit inside a small closet and hold 3-4 rifles, tops. Any ideas?

Doesn't need fire protection or 1/2" thick steel. Would prefer something relatively inexpensive and light.

Thanks for your leads!

Sven-
Homak makes a small "gun cabinet" It has 2 locking lugs and its pretty light. It can be had for around 50-80 bucks.

Kennedy, the tool chest company, makes a line of security cabinets. I bought Kencraft No.1500 a few years ago at a gun shop for about $200 IIRC. Weight is 97 pounds. The site has a state by state dealer locator.

That Kennedy safe is perfect for my needs. Just ordered the 1510... quoted $125 - no shipping as I ordered from a dealer two blocks from my work!

No. 1510
5 - Gun Security Cabinet

Our most compact unit - 13 1/2 x 9 x 52" high. Fits almost anywhere, yet has the same construction as our larger units. Added features include foam barrel rests that holds five shotguns or rifles up to 51 inches long; two plastic bins inside door for storage of ammo or small items.
Shipping weight is 47 lbs.

Two blocks away huh? I had to go 12 miles :)

I think you'll be very pleased with the quality.

BTW, I used one of the bolt holes in the back of mine to put a small Goldenrod on the floor. Even though it's humid here I don't always AC the upstairs - old house, big windows, high ceilings, fans, etc. The big safe in the damp unfinished basement has 2 large Goldenrods in it.

You know, I just _know_ I should have ordered a larger safe. Guns expand to fill the amount of secure storage space you give them.

Did the same thing with the handgun safe... thinking, 'this should last me a long time'... 1 year later, I'm stacking guns in the darn thing. Probably explains why now I'm looking at subcompacts!

The way I see it, this safe will cover the following:

M1 Carbine
M1A
M1 Garand
Shotgun
10/22

...by then, it will be time to move anyhow. Maybe out of CA so I can add an AR-15 to the collection.

Do those Goldenrods really work? Maybe I should start another thread.
