Just picked up an Xtrema2 28" w/KO in MAX4 HD Camo. I purchased it primarily for waterfowling.

The last two days I put quite a few rounds through it at my club. Trap, skeet and 5 stand. I shot everything from 1 oz. light target loads to a heavier target version of my reloads.

I had exactly two failures to feed (with my reloads) that weren't what I'd call a perfectly shaped crimp. These happened on my first day of shooting the gun and I must blame it on the shells I made. So, out of around 300 rounds it has functioned nearly perfectly in my opinion. The 5 stand doubles were quick as lightning, it is a super fast cycling gun.

I patterned it with Federal and Winchester 3.5" 2 oz. #5 heavy turkey loads and it seemed to like the Winchesters better.

All in all it is a fantastic gun and I'm surprised how well it did with all of the light stuff I was putting through it. I expected some issues and had none that weren't my fault.

Highly recommended.

How well does the KO feature work? I know it uses oil pistons to dampen recoil. Does it make the gun butt heavy?

The Extrema2 is a nice shotty, but the KO adds about 40% to the price vs the none-KO version. For shooting magnum waterfowl loads it might be worth it, but I'm thinking the none-KO version might make a really nice clay shooting gun.

Note to self: Don't even THINK about buy another shotgun! I just bought a 391 Urika 3 months ago.

i shot a friends not to long ago. imho, it's an awesome gun. however, even with the ko, turkey loads are still turkey loads.

Having never had a shotgun capable of shooting 3.5" shells before and thus never having shot a 3.5" shell before, I was somewhat surprised by the recoil of the 3.5" Turkey loads I used to pattern the gun. I've shot many 3" loads and there is simply no comparison.

I can't fathom shooting a gun WITHOUT all of the recoil reduction features in this one. A 3.5" pump or even an inertia gun must just beat the living crap out of you with these shells.

I find it is a very well balanced gun and don't think the KO option adds that much weight to the rear. It compares very nicely with my 391 Urika (which is also a FANTASTIC, reliable shotgun.)

The KO only adds 33% to the cost of the gun. I'm not positive 33% is a value, however, having no frame of reference I may sing a different tune after shooting 3.5's in a Non KO version.
