i finally got some pictures back from a shooting trip i took a couple weeks ago, and i figured i'd share my mossberg with you.

the gun is a mossberg model 500A, in 12 gauge with 20 inch barrel and extended magazine tube. it has mossberg factory ghost ring sights, which were installed by myself, a side mount HK type sling made by myself, a shortened buttstock with a 13.5 inch LOP (which is still too long), and had had the comb raised by the use of tactical duct tape and pieces of mousepad, to fit me better and allow quicker sight alignment.


the paintjob is two color desert (tan and brown) and makes the gun absorb less heat when it's sitting on the tailgate of the truck.
WHat do you guys think?

A query, how visible is that camo in low light?

it's not really as bright as it looks in the picture.

I haven't done any camouflage tests recently in low light so i'm not really sure just how much it stands out.


i'll go lay it on the lawn tonight and see if it's more visible than my dad's unpainted wingmaster.

when i get home, i'll upload another picture i have that shows the front sight attachment. it's screwed in with two 6-42 screws.

I'm thinking about suggesting to mossberg that they provide a hole that's drilled and tapped behind the bead so people can attach the mossberg factory sights without soldering.

it's not much more noticeable under low light than a normally finished wingmaster stock.

it's much more noticeable than the blued reciever, however.

Oef Vet - I like that paint job! Did you do it yerself?

edited to add - and how well does that paint stick to the side saddle? mines kinda flexy - I wouldn't think paint would stick too well or last very long.

I can't take the credit for the paint job. The reciever, tube, and barrel were done by a 'smith at Gun City USA, here in Music City. The furniture was done by Bob Lumpkin of www.nouglyguns.com . The paint isn't too flaky, other than when I let it fall on the ground the first time I took it to the range.
