I've read a few threads here and the reviews of the Fed Ord M14 - it seems to be the majority opinion that it's crap - I would like to know if anyone has had their M1903 and if it's worth a look. I'm really looking for a weekend range gun, but decent 1903's are getting expensive.

A yahoo search came up with some threads on other forums and some negative comments on the FO M14. To be honest, I know nothing about the company or their guns.

The Civilian Marksmanship Program still has M1903 rifles for $450. Not sure what FO is charging.

my very first 30.06 was a fed ordnance in 1903a3 configuration. i think i payed about $200 for it in 1985. it wasn't tactical and it sure wasn't pretty
BUT it placed everything in the black and didn't choke once.
