Anyone know anything about their work?

I see that they have a SA-based model at a fairly reasonable(?) price.

Their Scout looks good too.

Thanks.

The 2 guns I've seen were both superb, but I haven't seen the new SA based ones yet. Based on the 2 I've seen, I think the SA guns will be a bargain.

Paul Liebenberg is one of the "legends" of 1911 innovations.

Paul Liebenberg has been a around a long time..
He has always been innovative in his design and his pistolsmithing..

I believe he ran the Smith Performance Center for a time..back when they fielded the team of J. Michael Plaxco, Brian Enos, Judy Wooley and Jerry Miculek in the action pistol sports.

Paul Liebenberg learned his trade in South Africa before coming to the United States. Worked for (headed up??) Pachmayr's pistol division. Excellent work. Well known for hand made beaver tail grip safety's. as well as other parts. If you wanted to fill out a collection of classic custom 1911's, one of his guns should be on your list.

Their pistols seem competitively priced compared to the more popular "custom" makers.

Why don't they get more press compared to Baer, Wilson and others?

rWt,

I know exactly what you mean, and have no good answer for you.

Some of the most accomplished gunsmiths I've seen are largely unknown to the greater market.

I'm on a waiting list for 1911 from Ned Christiansen, whom I feel does the most amazing work I've ever seen.

He just had the cover of American Handgunner with two guns and the feature article.
I don't recall anything about their new Springfield package, but they sound impressive.

I got to handle but not shoot a matched pair of Pistol Dynamics 1911's built on Series '70 Colt pistols. Impressive work, especially the cosmetics.

I got to shoot the 2 I saw, and they shot as well as they looked.

Paul is easily one of the best five or ten smiths in the country. He was at S&W close to 10 years if I remember right. The main reason he is not as well known as some other smiths. Unlike some parts changers that are considered great smiths Paul is the real deal.
