I'm interested in putting a scope on one of my k-31's and haven't made up my mind as to which setup to go with yet. So show me yours ,let me know what you think of your setup and what you might do differently .

I don't have a photo of mine at the moment (just installed and zeroed the scope on Friday).
I used the St. Marie Clamp-on mount (aluminum), with medium Warne 7.3 rings. The scope is an inexpensive RedHead (Bass Pro store brand) 2-7x32AO scope. It all works quite well- at 100 yards with GP11, the combo is much more accurate than I am at that range. Apparently the drill & tap mount is more secure, but I didn't have a problem with anything shifting at all over the 30-40 rounds I fired.
I didn't want to make permanent alterations to the rifle (I try to keep my C&R milsurps as stock as possible in order to preserve the historicity), so that left me with the clamp-on. I will probably eventually get the St. Marie bipod adapter (it isn't out yet, but they have told of its coming on the swissrifles.com board). I just like being able to return the gun to original condition in a couple minutes with a screwdriver or hex wrench.

but I plan on a Darrell scout mount for my K31. I have one of those mounts on my Mosin Nagant 91/30 and it is great. So many things to buy and just so much money to try to buy them........chris3

Another St. Marie clamp on, bought it off eBay. Rings came with it, and are higher than necessary for the scope I've got-a fixed 4x I also bought on eBay. I like the scope mainly because it looks 'appropriate' for the rifle. I've thought about putting the Nikon 3-9x that I have laying around on the rifle, just to see if how it works.
I haven't had a chance to get it to the range yet.

Here's a K31 that I recently scoped. St. Marie's aluminum clamp on mount with angle-loc rings and 3-9-40 Sightron S1 mil-dot scope. Only shot with it once thus far last weekend using some handloads. Best was 1 three shot 1moa group. Think I'm gonna put the mount and scope on a different K31. I did another k31 with the mount and a Burris 3-9-40 scope that is now my father's hog gun. It is very accurate. I do like the glass on the Sightron and it and the mount held very steady. Great scope for just a $100, of course the rifle only cost $60 at the time!:)

So being as I'm a lefty do you guys think the clamp on mount would put the scope out to far to get a solid cheek weld ? I don't want to have one of those gay looking cheek pads on the stock hahahah . I don't know .... torn between the drill and tap or the scout setup ...decisions ..... Also what about those aftermarket mags, any good ??

St. Marie's D&T mount on a restored K-31....fwiw I don't recommend drilling a K-31, but this one was a gunsmith special brought back to life.

Also what about those aftermarket mags, any goodI've got the St Marie clamp on (don't have a pic and I'm in the middle of swapping on a better scope right now). I'm right handed with a right dominant eye so I like the fact that it sticks out to the right. I canted the scope a little so I tilt the rifle a bit to hold the scope more straight up. I believe it might help gravity angle the shell ejection away from the scope a bit too since the K31 ejects straight up. I used and will use a 40mm bell with low mount rings so it's low enough that a cheek rest is unnecessary.
If I was left handed, I'd probably get the left side mounted drill and tap mount and do the same setup the opposite way.

HAHAH I can't make up my mind so I ordered all three mounts lol ... I'll decide which one I like the best and sell the others . Someone might get a deal on a scope mount from me if they want . Never thought Id say it but I'm leaning toward the scout setup now. Oh ya other than on gun broker who has 31's with walnut stocks for sale??

Swingset: that looks really nice. Can you still just shift your face to use the regular irons, or does the elevation adjust get in the way?
