Browning BDM spare mags, and something neat...

Since the fact that my BDM only came with the one 15-round mag bugged lendringser to death, he was kind enough to send me a link to www.ammoclip.com who had 10-rounders for twenty-five simoleons.
The other night I finally got off my duff and ordered a couple, and they arrived, lickety-split, via Priority Mail today.
Included in the box was an 8.5x11" copy of the Bill of Rights, with the four rules and other gun safety stuff printed on the back.
Reckon I'll have to order from them again.

That's pretty cool! :D
So how many spares did you get? I need to know, so I can plan for the day when I talk you out of that BDM.

Having only one mag for a firearm is painful. Its like having a full water gun on a hot summer afternoon, and nobody's mom will let you come in the house to fill it up after you get done squirting your friends. It happened to me about 15yrs ago. I got in a fight about a block from my house and I had to keep running back to reload.

You'll need a double mag carrier. ;)

CDNN or somebody else had them for $20. I bought 3, then sold my BDM.
Neat gun, but so-so execution. It would be neat to see what an FN made one would be like.

The BDM was made by FN for Browning in their South Carolina plant------same plant where they are making M16's.
And yes-----CDNN has the mags cheaper than $25.-----$19.99 to be exact.

Ah, mine was marked Ogden, UT. I pressumed that was where it was produced.
Either way, I was trying to say that I wish the gun had been made in the plant where the Hi-Powers are made and produced similarly, in the hopes that they would have come out better.
I guess the answer to that question would come from examining one of the HP DAs, if I ever was in a shop that carried them.

I bought one of those NIB several years back. The price was right,($225) and it was different. Came with two 15 round mags. I never did get used to the darn safty, or the multiple ways you could set it. DAO, DA, SA, etc. The trigger was just plain awful, in any of the modes. It would not fit any of my existing leather either.
I picked up another 6 15 round factory mags, from Jerry's Pawn in Ocala Fla. They were hanging on the wall in blister packs. Think I paid $15 each for them.
Sold the whole shebang for $800. Never did like that gun, but the profit was not bad. I am sticking with Hi Powers.

Last I looked CDNN still had them for $19.99 ea.
The safety lever on mine broke so that the safety lever would no longer release the slide. I hear this is common and happened on mine after only 200 or so rounds.
Someone on TFL posted the same thing happened to them so they sent it back to Browning and waited forever and then finally got it back and it broke again right away.
The safety was also usually in the way to begin with. The gun is definately nice and slim though. It handled hot loads fairly well and mine was a 91' production.
Not too awful accurate though...

I got the 2-tone (looks kind of like a Browing Hi-Power Practical) about 3 or 4 years ago. The dealer I bought it from absolutely could not move it. He sold it to me for $250. Believe it or not, I've never fired it. I like the features of the gun and really wish it was still in production. Never did bother to get any 15 round mags for it, though.
