Help me out here.

I ordered a new commander recoil spring and put it on the guide rod/plug on my CDP Pro.

It seems like it's a little too long or like it has too many coils (I think it has 19 coils). When the slide goes to slidelock, it just won't move back anymore. I can release the lock with the slide lock lever...but racking the slide back 1/4" is impossible.

What's the deal? Do CDP Pros use a shortened recoil spring? Should I cut a coil off the end and try again? What do I do?

It IS too long, you ordered the wrong spring.

A Pro size Kimber is not a Commander length. It is 4" not 4.25". They use a 22# full diameter OFFICER's spring, not a Commander length. Wolff also makes a spring especially for the Pro size Kimbers. It is a little longer than the Officer's spring and will give a little longer life than the 800-1000 rounds.

Go to Wolff's site, gunsprings.com and look under Kimber Compact and Pro Size.

Do not use the Commnader spring in the gun, it will stack and you can easily damage the gun.
