New Purchase: Marlin .22LR Rifle

This makes the third gun I have bought in the past two weeks!
I traded in my Ruger 10/22 for a Marlin 795 .22 Rifle today.
Thanks to everyone for all the great advice. Many recommended the CZ-452. I looked at this gun, it was quite impressive, but I did not choose it, because: The Marlin I bought has a stainless steel barrel, the CZ has a blued barrel -- the Marlin has a synthetic stock, the CZ has a wood stock (I'm afraid I will mess it up too quickly), and the most important part....the Marlin was 40 dollars cheaper than the CZ (Yes, I know...I'm stingy).
Oh well, I'll probably buy that CZ someday anyway. :)
I also looked at the Winchester 190 -- the sales guy (who I buy from all the time, and I trust) was telling me that they have had some problems with this particular model in that the barrel gets loose and wants to come off -- he said that if it happened, it could be fixed...but he has seen it a couple of times. Has anyone else heard of this?
I was able to shoot it today, and it is great...I am thinking about adding some sort of red-dot sight...what do you guys think?
Thanks again:

I don't know about lifetime investment, but that CZ is still there if I ever want to buy it. :)
I asked the guy if he could order one and get it quickly if I decided I wanted the CZ -- in case the one he has was bought.
I'm sure this won't be the last .22 I buy. I just love the round!

At last count---I've got 5 guns chambered for the .22LR---only ones that come close in my collection is the 12ga--with 3. So you could say the .22 is a favorite.
Where else can you spend $10 bucks on 500 or so rounds and have fun shooting all day???

I "borrowed" a friends winchester 190 for a few months, but this one is going on 30 years old as well.
I found it to be a decent semi-auto that sucked if you shot it left handed. I wound up using standard 22lr or strong shorts in it, the strong lr ammo would send a lot of unburned powder out the side since its ejection timing was based on weight of the block and what not, I think this is right but could easily be wrong.
I found his version to be decently accurate, not as accurate as my marlin 39a something which is often compared to bolt actions for accuracy, and is also a lot heavier than his rifle.
I liked his rifle but would not buy one for myself since it just never won me over. His rifle is in nice shape with good blueing and some minor dings in the wood, pretty but used is how I describe it.
You also have to consider that I have not used any other semi-auto 22 lr rifles.
I cleaned it well and ran a few bricks through it and never had any problems with the assembly of the gun, my annoyance was the design of the gun more than anything else. I was also under the impression you could not buy a new 190, but then again I never researched winchester stuff that much either.
I love my Winchester 290 (I think it's the same model as the 190, but with a jeweled bolt or something).
It's not that it's the most accurate .22 out there, although it holds its own.
It's not that it's perfect in any way, because it is not (the trigger is NOT conducive to pinpoint accuracy).
No, I love my 290 because it's is the oldest rifle in my collection; I practically invented a job as a janitor at the age of 14 to scrape the dough together to buy it, I've taken a lot of rabbits with it, and I'll have had it next year for 30 years.
Now, having said all of that, it doesn't mean I don't want to obtain another .22 LR rifle. This time I'd like to get a CZ452. I have a CZ527 and it is a fine rifle.

You'll have to get used to things your Ruger didn't have. Such as, a last-shot bolt hold-open, and one-touch bolt-release. My 10/22 was a gift, else it would be gone by now.

I like the last shot bolt hold-open feature. It is very.......pistol-like.:D
In fact, I like every single aspect of this Marlin better than the Ruger.
I like the Ruger .22LR pistols - I don't own one, but I've used one quite a bit....I do own a Ruger Single Six -- which is...okay, but not very impressive.
I just sold a Ruger Min-14...I guess I just don't care for Rugers that much -- I don't know why...they seem to be reliable and high-quality guns. It's just something about them...:scrutiny:

I picked up a Marlin 60SS based on the opinions of the people here (my first rifle).
While it can't be "customized" like the 10/22, I like it just fine. A very dependable gun.
Besides, I think I would have problems rationalizing to the spousal unit why I needed to spend $2000 on accessories for a $189.00 rifle if I owned a 10/22
The Marlin is keeping me out of trouble!

I've got plenty enjoyment out of my Marlin 882SSV 22 Magnum but for future reference, CZ does make a synthetic stainless version called the Style, I believe. Same price as the American.
