I've decided on the PTR-91, but need advice...

I've fired one and liked it, and have been in the market for a .308 battle rifle.
My budget is about $900, but I could go alittle higher if there were extras that were necessary.
Please help me find the best place to buy a PTR-91 online and which extras are worth the money (stock, flash suppressor, bipod, etc.).
Thanks in advance.

I'd like to know as well. I'm looking to pick up one. Don't need a suppresor, though. ;)

Well, what kind do you want?
Do you want a regular 18" battle rifle, the heavy-barreled version, or the handier carbine? The latter would be my choice for a general-purpose kick-around gun.
You can get it with a standard fixed stock, a folding stock, and HK sliding stock, and an M4 style stock. The M4 stock isn't the best on a G3 type, though, as even collapsed it's not very short and extended it's excessively long.
Do you want to mount optics? On a 16" carbine, a zero or low magnification optic would be best. If you want a scope rail, you can get one from JLD Enterprises or a nice (but much more expensive) B&T one through DSA.
Do you want rail handguards? You have a couple options in that area as well.
I'd leave off the RIS handguards but would probably get the optics mount. You'll want to get the flipper magazine release assembly from JLD and have it installed. The mag release button is on the right side of the frame and is too far forward for a righty to hit it with his trigger finger. Being a lefty, I'd hit it with my thumb and pull the mag out (just like I do on an M16), but for a righty it'd be really awkward. The flipper assembly is like twelve bucks and would simplify things for you.

Thank you all for your help.
I'm the proud new papa of a beautiful JLD PTR91 today. Used but looks near new. Basic model, 18" barrel, no flash hider or bipod. Black furniture. 10 HK mags, box, mag bag, papers, etc. $625 total. Also bought 800+ rounds of .308 from the seller for $137.
I thought I got a very good deal.

Holy crap. $625? Even for a used one, that's damn good.

I've been hankering for one of Vector's V51 short rifles built from the PTR-91 myself. They say the PTR-91 build quality is even better than that of the original HKs and the price tag is less than half at $700-900.
Hehe, when is the range report? It might just convince me to take the plunge myself. Of course I'd have to settle for the stockless pistol version until the ATF gets my SBR stamp back.
