Swedish Mauser M94? Can we restore it?

I had a customer come in today with this firearm and we were wanting to know more about it. The pictures are intact. The best I can figure is it is a M94 carbine 6.5x55 Mauser. I think it is the original stock that has been cut down and re-finished. You can tell where they filled in the old holes and pulled off the old metal disk.
The customer wants to know how hard it would be to restore this this rifle. I am thinking that a stock might be able to be found somewhere. My main concern is the front sight. The pictures I have seen of the M94 show a much different looking front sight with the stock having a bayonet attachment.
What do you think? Is this even a M94?

How long is that barrel?
The carbines had a 17 and a half/quarter inch barrel. The front sight on mine has been altered, but looks different than the one shown. The end of the barrel is also different.
The sight looks more like a rifle sight. The fingergroove in the stock is not as prominent on the cut-down original stock on my M94.
I wish that gun had never been bubbaed.
SARCO might have some Swedish Mauser stocks. They find stuff in the warehouse all the time it seems.

Can't comment on the front sight, but that stock is an abortion!!:barf:

You can but it will cost about what a good condition correct one would. I'd just get a good sporter stock for it and put the old one aside. But if you do want to pursue returning it to a collectable I looked and found a little info.
Looks like the sight is ok but the big chunk of metal on the front is missing.

You'll need a stock, hopefully it will come with this

You'll need the metal, that one large piece on front is to mount a bayonet and for strength.
Seems not to have to much available.

Thats what it SHOULD look like... Ask these guys about parts. They'll love ya for trying and if anyone has any info on replacement parts, they should know.

edited to add... with the smaller rear sight I'd bet it's a 94 and not a cut down 96/38

You might want to talk to the guy selling the stock disk. Jeff is a great guy, and usually has quite a large selection of pieces and parts.

You are probably thinking of the ears, but IIRC those are part of the front band, not part of the sight. The sight is correct.
Not all the 94 carbines had the bayonet lug attachment; many/most just had a front band and an extension that came back on the underside of the stock.

Talk about your timing. I just bought one of these at an auction yesterday and it also is missing the unit disk, as well as the rear sling buckle. Mine is in very good to excellent condition. The only problems are some light surface rust on the bolt where it was probably handled and never cleaned/oiled. I thought I was goint to bid on a M 38 but the description on the sale bill was poor.
So, price check. I gave $275. I found one on gunbroker that had a starting bid of $800 so I don't think I did too bad. What do you all think?
I checked a couple places and haven't found a sling buckle yet. Any recommendation where to look?
