Goodness! Have You Held an NEF Ultra Slug Hunter?

I've been wanting one of these for a couple of years. I recently ran across on in a shop. That thing is a LOT heavier than I was expecting. It weighed more than a Win Super X1 (steel receiver) that they also had. (The NEF has a 24", almost "bull" barrel and the Super X1 had about a 28", vent rib barrel and wood stocks.)
Maybe it especially surprised me, because I was expecting it to feel handier, but it kind of felt like holding a barbell.
Now, I have long arms that are heavier, but I didn't expect a single-shot, 12ga. to feel like that. (Is it crazy that I still kind of want one? Good grief...)
Does anyone else have one? How accurate are they? I suppose that are only for sabot (slugs)?
Thanks.

:D
Yeah, just a lot more knowledge and experience with the SX1's is all ;)
Slug hunter is nice, very accurate, and the weight does tame the recoil.
NEF makes a Nice gun - period!

They utilize a 10ga barrel blank for the 12ga ultra slug hunter. This gives you a heavy bull barrel for accuracy. And, you will appreciate the weight when you are shooting it off of the bench. Accuracy from these is very good. A buddy of mine has one, and his is consistently a 3" shooter at 100 yards. I shoot an 870 with a cantilever barrel, and I get 3" groups as well with mine. But, mine cost a good bt more than his. If you don't mind the fact it is a single shot, give it a try. They are excellent guns for the money. Good luck

The single shot aspect doesn't bother me - I have a bunch of single shots. It was just a lot heavier than I expected. I have the NEF Tracker II (I think it's called? - it has sights and a slimmer profile).
The weight definitely would lessen recoil, but do sabot slugs even recoil as much as regular slugs? (My guess is no, but that's just considering it's a lighter payload.) I don't even know why I would choose a sabot over a regular Brenneke.
I do still like the Ultra Hunter, although I'm not sure why. I like the way it looks. It would be about the same price for me to just get a rifled barrel for one of my 870s, or one of the autos. (I've never used a sabot slug, so don't even know if I would get a rifled barrel.)
I also have a couple of the NEF 10ga. single shots. (No, I haven't shot them, yet...) Maybe I'll try Preacherman's 10ga. trick with an unsuspecting "confident" shooter, one day...
Thanks.
