Howdy, has anyone heard of or used an action made by an outfit called Surgeon Rifles? They are out of Prague Oklahoma. Thanks for any info.

Hey, Gerald, you might get more response if you also ask up in the Rifle Forum.

Welcome to THR.

Gerald,
I've known of Surgeon Rifles for some time now and I honestly think that 'ole Preston (the owner) has created the end-all, be-all in terms of a military/tactical bolt gun action. In fact, the only reason I don't own a rifle built around a Surgeon action is because I'm left-handed (Preston hasn't tooled up to manufacture a LH variant of his extraordinary action . . . yet). Oh, the joy I will experience the day he e-mails to tell me that he's started manufacturing LH actions!

But hey, I'm just a mope who fancies expensive, custom rifles. So don't take my word for it. Instead, consider that two former USMC Scout-Snipers whose attention I directed toward Surgeon Rifles in just the past year, both now own rifles based on this action! One of them even said that if Preston could promise far greater minimum units per year, then he'd probably get a contract to furnish them for the Marine Corps' M40A3 sniper rifle!
