Yesterday I went to the range and shot my new Mosin Nagant for the first time and gues what, my very first shot was a perfect bullseye! Granted it was at 25 yards, but this rifle hadn't been shot in 60 years and I had never shot one. I guess I'm getting better as a shooter? My shot groups were about 3 inches or so at 25 yards. About 6-7 at 50 yards and boy golly 100 was a challenge. Not to mention my arm was about to fall off. That M44 carbine kicks like a frickin Louisville Slugger! (Mules don't kick ths hard)
Anyway, thought you all might like to know, my first was a bull.
Yahoooo!

Yes, the recoil on an M-44 can be....err...impressive! I sold mine for that reason (and the fact that I can't use iron sights due to vision problems.)
If you're shooting milsurp ammo, the groups are about what I used to get. The "best" milsurp ammo was Czech "Silvertip" which cut my groups in half. But try some commercial ammo (S&B is actually both cheap and good) and you may be pleasently surprised at the accuracy. My buddy (who can see better than I, with iron sights) was shooting 3-4" groups (10 shot) at 100 yards with mine, before I sold it.
