Hadn't seen any locally, until this weekends gunshow. Had to try one. Comes with straight and curved backstrap, interchangeable front sights. 2 mags with and without extension. Fit and finish seem first rate. Watch out Glock! These are cool. From the pics it looked pretty silly, but in the flesh it's pretty sweet. Nice to have a larger selection than just Glock out there. Thanks to the efforts of SW, Springfield XD. Good shootin.:)

When I bought my SW99 a few months ago the smith rep that was there had both the .45 with him and the compact. I was fully impressed with that small little gun. Id really like to get one for a carry piece as I think my sw99 is a tad too large to carry eaisly. The compact fell in hand as easily as ANY 99 series gun ive picked up. Plus the smith life time warrenty still is in affect :)

The lifetime warranty is nice. I like having the little extras like the front sights and small and curved backstraps. Additionally, they put a flush mag base on one and an extension on the other. Well thought out. Shot 100 rounds through it this afternoon without any problems. 10-15 yards slowfire about an 1-1.5" groups.

Yeah that is one ugly gun! But with the straight backstrap it feels pretty good? Here's a link with a pic of the curved backstrap: www.shotshowreports.com/images/2003/sw99comp.JPG Thats the pic S&W should've used on their website, hell the other one will scare people away! It looks still better with the flat basepad. Hopefully, I can post a few pics this weekend.

ewww that straight backstrap is down right nasty. didnt see that one on the gun thats for sure. do like the 99 series for getting your money's worth. you get a full assortment of "goodies" when you buy any version of the gun. now if it will stay in my hands better than a glock subcompact then id think about it for serious use
