Hello i am new to this site but not to guns so don't worry the .44 magnum won't bother me. What i wanted to know is whats the best deal on a Blued Revolver Chambered for the .44 Magnum i would like a 4.5 inch barrel but i could go smaller but i don't want to go much bigger and i would perfer single action But i can change that too if needed. But i know there has to be a cheaper 4.5 inch single action blued .44 Magnum out there. Thanks to all for your help.

Sounds like you're interested in a Ruger Super Blackhawk with the 4 5/8" barrel. Here's the link to the Ruger website:
http://www.ruger.com/Firearms/FAProdResults?function=famid&famid=15&variation=Blued&bct=Yes&type=Revolver
The Blackhawk is rugged, well made, and reasonably priced. They have adjustable sights and shoot pretty well. You can't go wrong with them.
I've also attached a pic from their website.
Hope this helps.:)

Yup; Blackhawk, for sure. It's a great no-nonsense SA sixgun and a bargain in the world of handguns. If you've got a little time and patience, you can probly find one used for a good price.
Just out of curiosity; what's it fer?

The Astra, if you can find one, should be available for less than $400. From what I can find, it has gotten good reviews. The one I handled had a good trigger - a DA trigger. Maybe not as nice as a good Colt or S&W, but better than a Taurus. It is the size of a S&W N-frame and can use the same speedloaders.

blackhawk hands down, i have one and it is one of my favorite handguns. They are accurate out to distances that most people wont shoot a handgun, and they are cheap enough that if you scratch it (as i have mine while hunting) its not the end of the world.

Don't know if anyone else suggested, but Blackhawk, no question.

I have to admit I got a chuckle out of this post considering the shape mine is in, but it still shoots great

Since no one else has suggested it, I'll propose the... Ruger Super Blackhawk.;)

I can't believe no one has mentioned it yet, so I will!
Ruger Blackhawk, or the Super Blackhawk!
:neener: :D :neener: :D
Can be found used for $250 and up. Not quite 4.5", but I'm sure you won't find the extra 1/8" of the 4 5/8" barrel ruins your balance.

Look for a good used 44 Magnum. I paid $450 for this M629-2 and it was shot very little. Regards, Richard:D

I guess I'll jump in and mention the Ruger Super Blackhawk...
This gun has killed several whitetail. All it took was a spring kit
and a little light stone work to make this gun a real fine shooter.
By the way, it's my wife's gun...I just borrow it!

For single action in 44Mag there is Ruger's Blackhawk, Super Blackhawk and Freedom Arms model 83. If you want a double action than you have a few choices, like Smith, Ruger and Taurus.

Wow thanks for all the replys I really like the Ruger Blackhawk my dad used to have one he said but sold it when times were tough and he agrees with everyone on here too so it looks like me and my next paycheck will make a trip to the local gun shop later to get me a Ruger. For anyone who wondering what its for well i love Revolvers and Leverguns and anything of that type i horseback ride and am a country boy all the way even though i live a smaller town right now (hope that changes soon) i figured i need a good revolver to start out with because my carry gun is a don't laugh deadly reliable Sigma 9mm Enhanced series. I love the wheel guns what can i say its a disese really.:)

69Cougar, I would never laugh at a logical choice. I might laugh at a dumb one and you did not make one. A word of advice is stick with the factory (wood) grips and allow the Ruger to roll in your hand as it is meant to. If you use the synthetic grips the handgun will not roll and it will pound the hell out of you. The Super BlackHawk is my favorite revolver for shooting a lot of 44 Mags through. Enjoy your new toy and file a range report. Regards, Richard :D

Yup, since you are looking for a SA and want affordable pretty much your only choices are the Ruger Blackhawk, Super Blackhawk, or the older style Vaquero. If you are willing to consider DA as well the Taurus 44 is a great deal as well.
