Okay, normally I like my pistols pretty plain-jane, (hell, my Colt doesn't even have a beavertail) but there are some situations in which having a light mounted on the pistol would be a good thing, I think.
My primary automatic pistol is my Colt NRM Gov't Model, Series 80. It's pretty basic, and is very reliable. Matter of fact, it eats JHP ammo for breakfast and has never jammed on me.

However, as you can see, it has no light rail. (I'd be interested in Springfield's Mil-Spec Operator if they still made it.) So, I'm looking at aftermarket light mounting options.
The nice thing about these, of course, is that you can remove the light and the rail and the pistol will fit into standard holsters. I understand finding holsters for M1911 types with light rails, muchless with mounted lights, can be quite a challenge. Anydangway, here are some of my options as I see them.
Surefire (http://www.surefire.com) makes an M1911 type adapter mount. Unlike the older adapters that required a picatinny rail be drilled into the bottom of the frame, this one requires no permanent modifications to the gun. CLICK! Another adapter is one I just read about in the Shotgun News. It's called the Strike Plate Rail System from a company called Urban Advantage Tactical Systems (http://www.urbanadvantage.net). Corny name, right? Urban is overrated? Turns out that the founder is named Brian Urban. LOL!
Anyway, their M1911 Light Adapter (http://www.urbanadvantage.net/orderform.htm) is larger and very different than the Surefire model, but liek the Surefire requires no permanent modifications to the gun. One thing I do like about this mount is that it makes the pistol look all...futuristic. Kind of like the gussied-up M1911s they used in the movie Serenity. :D

Anydangway, those are my best options as I see them. The trick, again, is finding a holster that'll fit the gun with the adapter/light mounted, but whatever. Any other options I'm not seeing?
