Well, I went the Gun Show in Raleigh today bright & early, looking for a SAR-1, when I feel in love with the SAR-2. It was cheaper, and even though its a 99 model, it was in better condition than the 2003 SAR-1s. I got it and 100 rounds of Ulyanovsk for $315 even. I did sell the SKS to get this, but I don't have any regrets doing it. (mostly because they are cheap in this area). I'll have to give yall a range report after I'm done with my exams next week. I also put a pic up for yall also with the shirt that matches the gun ( and no I'm not a dirty commie either :) )

Yeah, I love my little SAR2 as well. 5.45x39 is such a sweet shooting caliber. I've got an SAR1 as well so I didn't have to choose, but if I had to I think I'd go for the SAR2. Just buy your ammo a case at a time online and all is good. Slightly more accurate than my SAR1 as well. I refinished the stock set on mine with spray on truck bedliner stuff. Turned out awesome...

here's mine

El Tejon, I don't have my Russian translation book, so Im going to have to ask a little help :)

MAKOwner, I was looking at ammoman, and I think his prices are pretty good for 5.45. Do you happen to know a good source for 74 mags? The guy I bought from was selling them for 10 dollars, but I was low on cash so I only have 2 regular caps and 1 10 round (which defeats the purpose of the AK design)

I got my mags from Northridge. They have a 4 pack of them plus a mag pouch, stripper clips, and cleaning kit for $25. When I got mine (been awhile 6+ months) the mags were like brand new. Don't know what the current condition is. http://northridgeinc.com/sp_mags.htm They are just short of half way down the list, they have a small pic and red no-California symbol next to them to help you find them.

Note that Northridge takes ridiculously long to ship stuff. 4-6 weeks before you get the stuff, no idea why...

I don't know of any other websites with them for cheap myself, but I'm sure there are others. My local gunshow also usually has a specific guy with em for $6 a pop... I'm sure you can beat $10 (for orange bakelite mags) somewhere else too.

If you want black mags, http://www.k-varcorp.com has bulgarian black polymer 5.45 mags for $10 a pop.

I picked up a SAR-1 from Assault Technologies at the same show today, Silver. Who had the SAR-2s?

Actually, "ruzh'yo" means "shotgun" or "long gun" in general.
"Rifle" is "vintovka"

Klyevaya vintovka, chuvak! -Neat rifle, dude!:D

Micro, of course, you are correct. I was using it with the more generic definition in mind. Mnya zhal, professor.:)

I went with 'rifle' because it is a rifle, and also because 'nice long-gun' doesn't exactly roll off of the tongue...;)

Chris, I don't remember the guy's name, but he the SAR-2 that I bought was the only SAR that he had. He also had a couple Enfields, Mosins and SKSs. He was the 2nd to the last row on the other end of the building. In fact, that was the ONLY SAR-2 at the whole show, and I didn't see any SAR-3s either.

The Silver Bullet 1719, the dealer whom you bought the gun from is open on Wensday nights in Raleigh. Congradulations on the good deal.
