I was just setting here contemplating my tortured existance here
in Californy. All of the sudden,Ouch,I got an idea.
O.K folks like to take pot shots at this insane asylum called
California (all of them justified) and in all honesty,I have at times,
become testy.For that I apologize.
Heres the idea.
California's economy is in the tank and dropping faster than
Grey Davis's popularity points.
If the members in the other 49 States wrote,faxed,e-mailed,
the yoyo's that run this loony bin and expressed
strong opposition to the insanity of the current legislation. Not only that, but, and heres the big one, won't be SPENDING ANY MONEY in this state.A nation wide financial boycott!Don't buy anything made in California!Don't take your vacation here!
The last thing these guys need is the money to dry up.
Nothing gets a politicians attention quicker than the sound
of money going away.
Seeing as they won't listen to the people who live here, maybe
they'll listen to people who SPEND here!
Ya never know,it just crazy enough to work :D
O.K. I'm exhausted now.(Pulling on Nomex suit)
Whada ya think?

Quickdraw, I think you may have something here. I think it would have to be constituency-specific, though - just a broad statement that "I disagree with the policies of California's government, therefore I won't visit California or buy products of California" doesn't make sense. After all, from a Second Amendment point of view, we'd have to take the same position with Massachusetts, Illinois, New Jersey, old uncle Tom Cobbleigh and all...
I think if we were to pick on specific issues (e.g. punitive taxation, disrespect for Second Amendment rights, etc.) and write to California's leaders, stating in blunt and simple terms something like the following, it might have an effect:
Since you won't trust me to responsibly exercise my Constitutional rights under the Second Amendment...
OR:
Since you insist on a punitive sales tax and other financial penalties levied against visitors to your State...
I shall henceforth refuse to travel to California for business or pleasure. In addition, I shall boycott all products of California that I can obtain from a different source. Finally, I shall encourage others to do the same.
I think that if enough people were to do this, it would have some impact. If several million were to do this, it might have a lot of impact!

As an unwilling PRK resident, IMHO the politicians in this state couldn't care less, in fact, would probably rejoice if the whole state went bankrupt. They would find a way to make billions from it.
IMHO they are not Republicans or Democrats but Communist and as communist they want the whole state to be run as a communist state. As California goes, so goes the nation!:banghead:

I doubt the authorities in the People's Republic of California are capable of being swayed by rational discourse; I've noted, however, that France is already suffering measurable economic harm from the refusal of many Americans to buy French goods and/or take vacations there.
I miss the beaches and temperate climate, but can't imagine I'll ever revisit the P.R.C.

Preacherman,
Well that was kinda my idea, solidarity among firearms owners.
Sacramento gets flooded with a couple a million letters, that
might get their attention, then again .
Desertdog,
I know what you mean, but if they play hardball, then they can
take credit for the "scorched earth" they created.
Its a way that other gun owners can help out a once great
State.Economic boycott.Hey it works for Jesse Jackson... :D
It won't take long at all what with illegal..oops, undocumented
guest workers, nannystate programs and other drains on the
economy.

suppose we did ALL do this, figure it would be better recived if THR sent letters all on the same day, for more of a "shock and awe" effect?
Very good, quick draw. Count me in, for what it's worth, but I never planned to go there anyway.:)

Quickdraw,
I had an idea once but I layed down until it went away.;)
On a serious note, as a fellow Californian, I don't think it will have any impact on our politicians here.

Well,it does seem a little extreme...
And in reality may not work at all.
I'm just tired of being pummeled by the gun grabbers
while waiting for the cavalry(NRA).
A lot of the big organizations don't want to upset the apple
cart by going on the offensive.I say to heck with that!
Lets take this to the grassroot level and try to get something,
anything,done.

I'm way ahead of you. I don't buy anything from a Calfornia-based business, and haven't for about two years. I do make exceptions for ATF items. I doubt the politicians will make any changes, but the residents may just decide that it's easier to make money elsewhere.
