I have a "FIELD SERVICE POCKET BOOK",
'UNITED STATES ARMY'
1917
this in remarkably good shape-not dog-eared, no missing pages or tears and only a small stain along the top edge.
It contains specs for the United States rifle, caliber .30, United States pistol, automatic, caliber .45 among other things. It conaains specs for the SMLE, British service revolver also. It also covers EVERYTHING the soldier needed to know from cooking, foraging, care of livestock, tactics, etc-nearly 400 pages worth. The book is about 4 1/4 X 5 1/2 inches.
I consider it a really neat 'accessory' to my Springfield 1903 (1918).
Just wondering if anybody else had one and if you had any kind of ballpark estimate of the value of the book. Thanks for your input.
