My friend is looking to purchase his first handgun. He likes the 9mm format and we went to hold and shoot some today and yesterday. He has it between the Sig 2022 and the HK USP C.

I understand both are excellent guns and his needs are range shooting and carry in the future.

What do you all suggest?

Thanks,
Jesse

Tell your friend they are both fine firearms...pick the one he likes best or can get the best deal on.

Can't go wrong with either, as both are excellent.
He should buy what he shoots best. Cost should be secondary.

The paces I buy guns from have a policy that if you want to shoot it you need to buy it first. If you happen to have a range at he gun store you frequent and they have rental pistols you may have a chance to shoot one if they have one to rent. Otherwise cost is an issue. Wouldn't want to pay more for a gun that probably shoots as well as the less expensive one.

Both are exception guns. The Sigs's grip is a bit more round/bulbous while the HK is a bit more squared off. The HK has a manual safety the Sig does not. Both are reliable accurate shooters. It'll probably come down to feel. You can't go wrong with either.

I'm not a SIG fan & I just love my HK's. IMHO, they can do NO wrong! Get the USPc ;)

Well if he no way to shoot them, he'll have to go on feel and features (and price).

The HK is more versatile, and the Variant can be changed. If he wants DA/SA it doesn't matter. If he wants to carry Condition 1, he has to go with the HK.

HK's are more Lefty-friendly. If he's righty, this also does not matter.

Thanks,

Now he is looking at the 226. He loves the feel of the sigs. Sorry HK fans. I tried to get a 1911 in his hands, but he likes the look and feel of the sigs too much.

Again thanks everyone.

Im actually starting to look at sigs now, too. I used to think they were ugly, but man, they are starting to grow on me. Kahrs, too. Jesus, my list is too long as it is!

I shot a Sig 266 today - it was just ok. Nice SA trigger, but I didn't care for the base Sig sights (the rear white line). Ok gun to shoot - not interested in owning one...

I think he just wants the "got sig?" bumper sticker. ;)
