It had been quite a while since the last time I shot it.

My lack of practice shows. The bum shots did occur early in the string though and the last few shots overlapped themselves in the x ring.

This is a nominal .44 that shoots .433 balls. .440" are oversize for it. It is uncritical as to loading. I generally shoot 15 grains /vol of H777 but today was shooting 20 pyrodex p that turns a bit higher velocity. I have clocked it at an average of 949 fps. The patches were oversized pillow ticking intended for 50 caliber and they worked just fine. I've found that using the finger rest under the trigger guard really does add consistency to my shooting. This pistol has a single set trigger that was dangerous before I loctited the adjustment screw to keep it from walking out to the point of inadvertent discharge. Since then, I've had no problems with the trigger.

This was the last two shots of the day. They are either %40 skill / 60% luck or vice versa. There is enough luck envolved that I decided not to stretch it and quit shooting.

That is a very accurate pistol--I fired it over a rest and the ball went through the same hole that had already been punched in a large tin can. the ball slightly enlarged the hole in the can and skimmed along the board behind the can. I'm not as good offhand as mec.

The metal & wood finish look as beautiful as the way it shoots.

The lepage flint pistol is even more ornate. trouble is, I can't hit doo doo with that one.

Mine is a Dixie Gun Works version. It shoots nearly as good as yours. But...mine has a hair trigger. No matter what I do, I can't correct it. But it's fun to shoot as I'm sure your's is.

Actually I got mine-pedersoli-through dixie too. Double set trigger on yours is pretty neat. If your adjustment screw is walking out to the point it falls from or fails to engage full cock, I wonder why degreasing and loctiting the screw wouldn't work.

The adjustment screw doesn't seem to adjust much of anything.
