Does a valid CHL waive the requirement for a Pennsylvania Instant Check when you buy a gun in PA?

Unless PA law specifies a NICS check, federal law waives the requirement for CHL holders in any state. Either way the NICS check only takes a few minutes and is usually completed long before your paperwork is even done.
A funny story told to me by a co-worker one time. He went to one of the gunshops in Anchorage and among the customers in the store were a couple of federal agents from some alphabet agency attempting to purchase a handgun(s) and were rather indignant when the clerk informed them they had to wait for three days to pick up their toys feds or not. To rub salt into their wounded egos, an Alaska CHL holder walked in paid his money and left w/ a new handgun under his arm. The clerk had to explain to these guys that the Brady law had an exemption of the waiting period for the CHL holders. I think he even told them to thank their boss Janet Reno :barf: at the time, for their inconvenience. :neener:

Yes pennsylvania does require its own background check, and I was just thinking that if a CHL exempted the holder from this fee ($20 per purchase), than it would pay for itself with 2 guns.

It USED TO BE that having a PA CHL exempted you from the background check, but with the passage of Act 17 (I think), this is no longer the case.
