just bought an 870 express in 20 ga. there new laminated wood stocks are a huge improvemnt, in an already great gun. has anyone else seen or purchased the 2006 model? and what do you think of these new stocks? thanks denny

They have also started machining the tops of the receivers again to include a sort of rib. Does yours have that? 'supposed to look waaaaay better.

yes mine has a flat milled on top gives a great sight plain. i have had alot of 870's over the years but i really like this one alot. this is my first in 20 ga.

I meant they machined the ribs, the barrel ribs, like on my BT-99, so the whole rib is checkered. My 2-year-old 870 Express has a rib that's just rough and blue like the barrel, and I think it's a tad narrower. It works, but the new one's nicer. And the laminate stock is a LOT nicer.

i gotcha. yes there are very deep and nice grooves cut in yhe rib. i like it alot.

i got a 20 the stocks are nice if you want shine you can rub some rem oil on the stock

My 870 Express has a flat on top of the receiver; it's not just rounded, but it's not milled into grooves like my classic 1100, though.

I'm not sure whether they now have more than a flat strip to meet the rib. Of course on mine, the flat strip on the receiver matches the rib in size and texture. I'd have to see a new one again. First time I saw it was at a dog-and-pony show here; I was a lot more interested in shooting the new 105, since I already have a 12 Gauge 870 and probably won't replace it just to improve the rib.:)
