I was going to say those new Leupold VX-L look cool if you have about $900 burning a hole in your pocket :p
I've bought a couple used VXII's for around $200.

Look into Swift scopes then. I have several and find them a bargain for the clarity and ability to handle recoil without rattling loose.

The only scope I can recommend for under $200 is the Bushnell Elite 3200 10x40 Mildot. However, since it is a fixed power scope, it would not be suitable for hunting. Do yourself a favor and either save up for a decent scope or buy used. You get what you pay for in optics.

Actually, spending a lot more on glass than on the rifle is often a very wise thing to do. Quite often, the scope is the weak link in the accuracy equation not the rifle.

You'll notice what I put on my "beater" Mossberg ATR-100 in .270:

You can rest assured that the Leupold Vari-X III 3.5-10 on that rifle cost over twice what the rifle did, and would cost even more today.... if they still made them. :)

I believe Natchez is having a sale on their Bushnell 3200 series scopes. Great scopes for the $$$. I think you can get a 3-9x for about two bills.

Im trying to stay under 200

Easy: Nikon Buckmaster 3-9x

Or, for a little more, a Leupold VX-II 3-9x.
