garrett1955 July 27, 2006, 06:41 PM Nightforce! lol A nice scope is a Leupold VX-III I have one on my 30-06 for deer hunting, and I love it. Really we need moe info, what's it goiing to be used for? how much does he want to spend... BergaminoCAV July 27, 2006, 07:26 PM well its gonna be my rifle, Im gonna use it mainly for deer and other deer sized game, Im trying to stay under 200 DoubleTapDrew July 27, 2006, 07:30 PM I was going to say those new Leupold VX-L look cool if you have about $900 burning a hole in your pocket :p I've bought a couple used VXII's for around $200. BergaminoCAV July 27, 2006, 07:37 PM well my pops has some Leupolds on his rifles, but im buyin this rifle cheap, and Im not gonna put a scope that costs twice as much on the rifle haha Oldnamvet July 27, 2006, 08:26 PM Look into Swift scopes then. I have several and find them a bargain for the clarity and ability to handle recoil without rattling loose. http://www.eabco.com/Swift01.htm USSR July 27, 2006, 09:07 PM The only scope I can recommend for under $200 is the Bushnell Elite 3200 10x40 Mildot. However, since it is a fixed power scope, it would not be suitable for hunting. Do yourself a favor and either save up for a decent scope or buy used. You get what you pay for in optics. Don goalie July 27, 2006, 09:37 PM Im not gonna put a scope that costs twice as much on the rifle haha Actually, spending a lot more on glass than on the rifle is often a very wise thing to do. Quite often, the scope is the weak link in the accuracy equation not the rifle. You'll notice what I put on my "beater" Mossberg ATR-100 in .270: http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=161840 You can rest assured that the Leupold Vari-X III 3.5-10 on that rifle cost over twice what the rifle did, and would cost even more today.... if they still made them. :) one eye joe July 27, 2006, 10:33 PM I agree with the above post on Swift. Nice scopes for the price with a lifetime warrenty. The company he gave you info for has a sale going right now. Check them out. BergaminoCAV July 28, 2006, 04:47 PM A guy that comes in the store alot sold me a 3 - 12 by 50 Burris Black Diamond for 250, he is also gonna give me a brand new spotting scope when I get back from my fishing trip in couple of weeks! I dunno if I wanna put it on my .270win. or .300wsm haha BamBam-31 July 28, 2006, 05:33 PM I believe Natchez is having a sale on their Bushnell 3200 series scopes. Great scopes for the $$$. I think you can get a 3-9x for about two bills. frank c July 28, 2006, 09:36 PM Check out the mueller scopes.I have three mounted on 2 rifles and 1 shotgun, they have been flawless.Good scopes for $$ spent.:) MachIVshooter July 30, 2006, 12:19 AM Im trying to stay under 200 Easy: Nikon Buckmaster 3-9x Or, for a little more, a Leupold VX-II 3-9x. 30-06 lover July 30, 2006, 02:16 AM Nikon Buckmasters wuld be my personal pick, but I see a Weaver Grand Slam in the future. -Mike
