SW99 in 10mm?

Now that S&W has come out with it's version of the Walther P99 in .45 ACP, I wonder what it would take for them to make one in 10mm? How tough is is to convert a typical .45ACP to 10MM? I'm guessing that the case size is sufficiently different that it would at least require a modified slide along with a different barrel. I would love to see both the full-sized and new compact SW99 in 10mm. I have one in 9mm, but I've wanted a 10mm pistol for a few years. I would get the EAA Witness Compact in 10mm if it were avaialble in CA, but I would prefer the SW99. I think these would compete well with the Glock 10mms - especially among those (like me) who aren't wild about the Glock's trigger system. I also much prefer the less-boxy look of the SW99/P99 compared to the Glocks. I would even consider some sort of after-market 10mm conversion if worked well and safely.

So, would anyone else be interested? And please, let's NOT get into the Walther vs. S&W debate. I would be equally happy with a Walther in 10mm - it just seems a lot less likely to happen than the SW99 version (Walther doesn't even make a P99 in .45, do they?). S&W seems to be introducing a lot of interesting "niche" guns lately - given that they already have a appropriate frame-size for it, I think a 10mm SW99 might be a pretty good seller.

You'd need a whole new top end. Probably different magazines and maybe a different ejector.

I'll be interested in either the .45 (but not from S&W, only a Walther version) or maybe the 10 mm, but I'm not likely to buy both.

Seeing as how the P99 in .40 S&W was made on a 9mmx19 frame, it would be necessary to re-design the whole pistol around the 10mm.

Walther has taken a position that they are not coming out, for now anyway, with their own P99 in .45 ACP so I doubt if they will even consider the 10mm.

They didn't even go beyond the "maybe" stange with the .357 SIG round. ;)
