Well, I've finally joined the M44 Owners' Club here and bought a near-perfect 1952 Polish M44 at the gun show this weekend. (You guys are costing me money!) This is my second Mosin, after my M39--yes, they are addictive . . .

My question is, are there any web sites (or books) that give the interpretation of Polish receiver and stock markings? I bought Doug Bowser's _Rifles of the White Death_ to help decipher my M39, but have no idea where to start with this one.

Check http://www.mosin-nagant.net . There is a section on Polish M44's there. Bought one of those a couple of months ago after my wife saw it; bought a Hungarian M44 over the weekend because she won't let me shoot hers and I was jealous.
