Not yet. Mine has a narrow front sight and a v notch rear, Talked to a local smith and I have gotten a price of $20 to $110 to replace the front with another staked in front sight. The front sight can be replaced with another staked in front sight or have a dovetail cut in and a new sight slid in.

Check out www.1911.com and www.1911.org

in the GI 1911 section of the forums there was a list of serial numbers with the dates of when sistemas were made.

I just got my Sistema about a month ago and do not plan on replacing the sights. Even though the stock sights are not very good, I want to keep the gun as it was manufactured.

I added MMC rear sight and Hi-Viz front sight. Huge improvement! Gunsmithing is needed to install. This Sistema Colt is set up to be a fun gun or game gun. Range use only.

Thanks all.
With the small size of the front sight I didn't know if it
could be done. i'll check with my smith.

I have replaced mine twice. I used King's the first time, and I liked the sights, but I really wanted adjustables. I then put a set of Mecgar (adjustable rear and blade front) sights on it. The Mecgars don't require any sight cuts, but they do sit fairly high. Not a problem for a target gun, and that is what this one is for me.

I think that when Colt's sold the tooling to Argentina, they sent some old gear. The tiny notch rear and fingernail front are like the earliest 1911 U.S. military pistols.

I wanted to have one strictly box-stock, GI style 1911-type, so, like Frosty, I've been leaving mine alone. One thing I DID do, though, was to take a Swiss-pattern file and deepened and squared out the rear sight notch. Makes for a much quicker and clearer sight picture. Well, okay - - -I DID switch out a couple of parts to make the trigger crisper, and to replace the purplish hammer.

Best,
Johnny

That sounds like a good idea. Keeps the gun pretty much stock but does improve your ability to shoot accurately. I may have to try the same thing...thanks!

I really like the pistol but those sights have to go. There's a million 1927's out there so I don't worry about changing from the original. I'm doing the same thing to my CZ 52, it's at Makarov.com now getting a set of novaks. Can't wait to get it back.

I put three-dot sights from King's Gun Works on mine. I like them fine; they're better than the sights on my Kimber Custom II.
