Do you prefer finger grooves or no finger grooves on your Sistema?

I really want to get a Sistema as my next C&R purchase and I see some that have finger grooves built in and some that don't. Which do you have and if you had a choice, which one would you choose?

Any finger grooves on Sistemas would be from the grips. The pistol itself is ungrooved. Easy to change out if that is what you want.

Interesting because I seen a few for sale on GunsAmerica that looked to have finger grooves that were not part of the grips.

I agree - no frame grooves but a wrap-around style of grip would give the option.

Moving to autoloaders.

If you mean built into the frame I don't think that can be. Sistemas are Browning-designed 1911s built in Argentina to Colt specs on Colt machinery. Maybe the grips have finger grooves. I bought one in 2001; mine has no grooves.

It really depends on the grooves...if they fit you they might be okay, but that may be a huge IF. That said, I'm not a finger grooves fan so I'd recommend staying away from them ;)

Nope smooth for me, maybe with a grip tape.

As stated above, finger groove grips were not original equipment, especially in Argentina...I tried groove grips, but just didn't like my fingers being locked into place.
I prefer the dimpled Ostrich skin that has an unbelievable feel to it...

Thanks for the information everyone. I'm looking at them on GunsAmerica and the finger grooves definitely do not look to be part of the grips. So I'm assuming they are some kind of tape ons that Brian indicated. If that is the case then I agree that no grip is better. Thanks everyone for the heads up.

I don't guess you have the GA item number of one of those finger groove Systemas so we could see what you are talking about.

The one I was looking was GA# 976751745. The more I look at it, the more I can see where it may be some kind of aftermarket grips. I was thinking that some came like at first look. Guess I better read up more on them.
