No disprespect intended, but I found this great deal on line and thought I'd share.

I plan on getting two, one for protecting The Book in transit to/from church and on for those times when I can't carry ccw due to attire. Would have bought three but my wife is looking for something a little more feminine.
Thanks for the idea, redneckdan.

Nothin wrong with that! I've toted my Word and my Colt Commander to church many times in one of those.

On the same page, another featured product was a: Genuine Leather Purse with concealed weapon pocket. Maybe the wifey would go for one of those?

Don't bother. I bought one awhile back because it tickled me so much to see a knock-off of a concealment purse (it means we're winning the culture war! There are enough of "us" to drive a corner of the knock-off market!)
It is as advertised, but the internal compartment is extremely flimsy, made of floppy fabric, and there's no way to fasten the gun into it to keep the gun in the same orientation all the time.
Floppiness = purse junk could lever the trigger back despite the fabric wall. This could be messy and embarrassing and perhaps even fatal to someone.
No way to fasten the gun = it'll be upside down and pointed at you when you try to access it, making it both dangerous & difficult to withdraw from a crowded purse.

Pax,
Just curious. Is it a complete waste of time or is it a platform that can be "improved". I can't think of a single skin I've got that I haven't had to do some work on. I've had to do everything from a single stitch to firming up the walls on most of my rigs. The ones I use on a regular basis anyway. But then I'm a tinkerer. It's why my wife won’t let me reload. :uhoh:
I've said it before. More guns don't equal more violence. They equal more sewing and leather work!

Yes, I think it could be built up to be useful and safe, if you knew what you were doing when you did it. I haven't bothered with mine because I never intended to carry it anyway -- I got it as a novelty that made me grin. The external structure is good enough, and the overall look isn't too bad. Inside, it would take two sturdy-fying pieces of something stiff enough to add structure, plus something to hold the gun in the same orientation at all times. If I were doing it, I'd probably go for a velco-type system, putting the receiver loops on one wall and the hooks on the outside of a holster which could then be slapped against the wall.
Considering what concealment purses generally cost, it's probably worth the effort to do it.
But as is, the purse really is not safe for carry.

Pax,
Thanks for the input. The Mrs. has the final word on if she wants to try it or not.
You are correct about the prices of purses. That has been a major factor in her not buying one. She just doesn't want to spend a lot of $$$ and find out she doesn't want to carry that way. I figured if this rig could be cobbled together into something reasonable for a lighter price she could find out if she wants to carry this way. If she does like it then can justify a high dollar one.
Thanks.
P.S. Sorry for the post hijack. You could complete the Bible Carrier illusion with a fake Bible that has a cut-away inside that fits your gun.

I was thinking the same thing. I have my PPK/S in a fake Bible on my bookshelf.;)

Today, a reading for the Gospel according to Walhter.
Thou seest me though all my trails, Lord.
Thy .380 and thy extra mags comfort me.
For you are kind to me oh Lord,
and bring mine enemy close for the belly shot.
Swiftly mine enemies fall before me.
Their Hi Points jam in the face of thine righteous.
Smoothly with confidence I speak the words of power.
“A martini. Shaken, not stirred.”

Great idea and no one would think about a gun in the outside pocket.

Could be useful. I thought this was going to be about a hollowed out Bible. Back in the '60s Robert Mitchum played a preacher with a gun hidden in his Bible in "Five Card Stud".

I think nothing can put the fear of God into folks like drawing a handgun out your bible cover...:)
