DOB on a Smith 36-1?

Can anyone tell me the mfg date on a 36-1 serial J3608xx? It's blue w/a 3" barrel...

Bulldog, I am far from being an expert on this, I’m just looking up the dates in my copy of “The Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson”. I am not seeing anything close to your serial number in there. Possibly someone more experience will read this and help you out.

1971- 1972 1J1-999J99

This serial number range is often over-looked by people looking through the SCSW beause it is out of the "normal" serial number set-up.

Thanks. That jives with the "Prices effective July 1, 1971" printed on the parts list in the instruction sheet. :)
