I want to build/customize a 1911, but a friend has a Luger for sale. Now, I wouldn't go out of my way to look for a Luger, but this one has caught my interest. It was refinished (blued VERY nicely, still 99%+) at some point in its life, so it's a shooter, its an all matching 1917 Mfr. DWM, and he offered it to me at $500. Based on price, condition, and what it is, should I buy or pass?

Buy the Luger! Deals like that won't be around forever.....besides, the stores and shops are full of custom "projects" that folks have tired of. Keep history alive!

Kinda what I was thinkin Bill. I don't see Springfield Armory GI models, or Caspian frames & slides goin away any time soon, so the 1911 build can always wait, but Lugers seem to be gettin scarce. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't the only one thinkin that.

Ditto. Even if it's a refinish it promises to be a good shooter. You can always find 1911s and parts.

If you would like to see what Lugers are doing on the market right now go here,,http://www.simpsonltd.com
Click on the Luger tab.
I have never had any luck dealing with this firm but folks who are far more loaded with cash report to me that the guns they have bought here have all checked out as what they were advertised to be.HTH
