Well unfortunately that little NFA thing that requires a $200 transfer fee on supressors makes it expensive to start with. Then you have to consider that supressors light enough to allow semi semi auto pistols to function properly are a relatively new technology and there just isn't a cheap way to do it. Correia or one of the other Class III dealer types here can probably tell you the least expensive way to do it, but cheap it will not be.

First you would need a threaded barrel.
Then you would need the suppressor itself.

As stated above, there is a $200 NFA tax (one time), and the cost of the suppressor. There are many brands available, Gemtech, Bowers, Knights, etc. A typical cost for a .45 suppressor would be $600-800. There are less and more expensive ones available also.

You will need a threaded barrel for your gun first. These are available from many different manufacturers. Jarvis, Barsto, Kart, but I'm not sure who does HK barrels. The only HKs that we've had suppresed have been the Tacticals that come with the barrel already threaded.

On centerfire pistol cans, we've stuck with Advanced Armament Corps Evolution suppresors. They are light, effective, and have a recoil booster to ensure reliable function. I've been running a 9mm on a Beretta M9. (because the stock Beretta barrel sticks out far enough we could just thread it, and not have to buy an aftermarket barrel, because I'm cheap like that) :)

My price on the AAC cans is going to be in the mid $700 range. You will need to fill out a form 4, pay the $200 to the BATF, and so forth. This is actually a whole lot easier than people think it is. If you can do the paperwork to get a CCW you can probably get an NFA item.

So, it looks like it's going to be about seven-eight hunny for the can + 2 for the tax stamp and the cost of the barrel.

Is there an easy way to figger out the twist? Is one better than another? Or are they abitrary?

I've seen some reviews on the AAC and they look good. Wouldn't mind dropping the cash, but if I could get a quiet .45 for cheaper it might be worth the purchase of a different piece that is easily suppressed.

Didn't anybody here watch the Godfather, part II?

That down pillow worked pretty well for young Vito... :uhoh:

Of course, I don't think Vito was worried about 'the Man'.

This topic comes up on HKPro periodically, you may want to hit up a search on their handgun forums.

Seems to me there's two $200 taxes on a suppressor. $200 for making it and then $200 more for the transfer. Of course any subsequent transfer is also $200...

I did a quick Google search and found the following suppressor constructed for the HK line of handguns -

Gem-Tech (http://www.gem-tech.com/BLACKSIDE.html)

And a manufacturer for the barrel -

Jarvis Inc. (http://www.jarvis-custom.com/Products/tabid/53/ctl/ProductDetail/productId/4/mid/388/Default.aspx)

Total Cost - $991.00 (including tax stamp)

Does not include sales tax, shipping, dealer fees.

You only pay $200 once when you buy an NFA weapon.

Seriously, ;)

Ciener makes(made) cans for HK pistols. There's another major company in Vero Beach FL that has a DoD contract for the HK SOCOM(special operations) .45acp. I'm not sure of the company name but they are highly respected.

If your like me, you leave MA because they are outlawed here. Why would they outlaw a perfectly good safety device?

Because only redneck-MS-13-white supremacist-Tamil Tiger- Neo-Nazi Crips have use for that deadly assault weapon accessory.

Serious answer - because they can, and because it paves the way for more restrictions.
