For those of you doing .270win loads what type of powder do you prefer? Same question for those of you loading 30-30.

Starting to get into reloading and I am wondering what powders come reccomended for these two calibers. Preferably if possible one powder that would work well in both.

My buddy has some good 30-30 rounds with H-335 and CCI mag primers. As for .270, he uses IMR 4350.

I like 56 grains of IMR 4831 for the .270 140 grain, and 35 grains of IMR 4320 for the 170 grain Speer FP, 30-30 loads.

GooseGestapo has long proclaimed Reloader15 tops in the 30-30, and I'm a convert. Nothing else gives velocities as good and accuracy as tight.

35gr RE15 under a 150FP and 33gr under a 170FP is what I use - drop down the usual factor and work up. I can usually push about a grain more for each load, but the returns are pretty small.

For the 30-30 I would look at IMR 3031.
One of the 4831s (Hodgdons is my preferance) or R22 will work with any bullet wgt in your 270.
