Kahr T9

Hello all! I have been a lurker for awhile and this will be my first post. After waiting 6 months for my pistol permits I received the two of them and I am ready to make purchase. For those wondering I live in NJ (please take a moment to curse, puke, etc.) Unfortunately I'm stuck here for a few years so I planning on making the best of it and abiding by the laws.
One of my permits will be going towards a LNIB Glock 19 that I'm getting for a bargin and I am thinking of using the other to buy a Kahr T9. Unfortunately I do not know much about them and was wondering what your impressions are. I will be using the gun primarily for target shooting (local range is 5 min. from the house) and it may double as a home defense pistol. Thanks in advance for your responses.

Haven't shot one, but did get to handle one a few weeks ago. I thought the T meant Titanium, but it apparently means tactical.
No matter what it means, though, I found that the T9 fits my hand amazingly well.

Having put several hundred rounds through a K9, I have no doubt the T9 would be an ergonomic dream. I would think, however, that it might be a bit redundant with the G19, given that you've been so patient for permits in a place that gives them out so reluctantly. The Kahr will be a little thinner, but heavier. The Glock has only a slight advantage in capacity, unless you get standard-cap mags. And, obviously, both are striker-fired 9mm semis. Fitwere me (though of course you didn't ask for this), I'd probably choose the one of these I liked better and range around for more variety on #2.

Both the Glock 19 and Kahr T9 fill a similar tactical niche. Since the main use is not concealed carry, but rather range use and home defence, I would look for a larger gun to complement the Glock.

Thanks for all the replies. I have been researching some other guns as well, runner ups seem to be CZ 75sa, Ruger P90 and a Ruger GP100. The results of my searches here have me leaning towards the CZ's.

You know, I almost said you should look at a 4" .357. Either that GP100 or its uptown cousin, the S&W 686, is a fantastic and woderfully versatile gun, and something really different from your other piece, whichever 9 you go with. That's be my second gun (though in my case it was the first, and the 9 was second).

Naw, you needs the GP-100, much more versatile in the ammo department (.38 target to much better than wimpy 9mm .357 manstoppers) ;-)
Just my opinion.. I think the CZ's really fit the same niche as the T9/Glock would...
