doughboy -

Welcome to the Club. Five months? Seems like a long time - but worth the wait.

*5 MONTHS*??

You can't leave us hanging like that. Why did it take so long?

Mine only took 61 days. I know of people who are in the 90'th day, and that should be rare...

By law they are supposed to issue it or deny it within 60 days, btw.

Maybe because I had an "adventurous" youth (a long time ago).No serious trouble ,but enough "incidents."

Ahh. Yea, that'd do it.

Btw, a great place for getting texas-specific CHL questions answered is http://www.texaschlforum.com. It's run by a trustee of the NRA an a lawyer, so you get lots of awesome infos. Stop on by. Tell your story about how long your CHL took, you'll make plenty of others in "the waiting room" feel better! :what:

After four months I called to see what was up with my CHL. The guy to whom I was transferred said, "Yeah, I got your application right here. Uh let's see. . . yeah . . . ok . . . It's approved. You should have your license in a few days."

I shoulda called a week after I sent in the application.

By law they are supposed to issue it or deny it within 60 days, btw.A pet peeve of mine - a toothless law that requires certain action by government employees/agencies, but provides no penalty whatsoever for non-compliance. :cuss:

My TX CHL arrived just a couple of days before the 60-day deadline after I handed it in personally at DPS HQ (that's ONE advantage to living in the Austin area) but the renewal only took about half that long.

Yes, in austin they are on the ball.. I sent my renewal in back in December and got my new one right at sixty days later. A week after that, they sent me a second one, identical. I didn't call to see what the deal was, I just carry the extra one in the glovebox in case I ever forgot my wallet going to the store.

Congrats. I renewed mine about 3 weeks ago, hopefully it'll come in before it it expires on the 24th this month. The only reason I renewed it was so I can still carry from Aug 24th-Dec 7th. After that I'll be LEO.

My renewal took about 5 weeks or so. The initial license took about 60 days.

Congrats on the new license. Make sure you use it. I know my family pretty much assumes I will at least have my P32 if not something else.
