It should be 0.006 inch if it's a personal defence piece. 0.004 to 0.008 is acceptable. The factory spec will allow up to 0.010 but most people would say that's a bit too much. I like 0.003 to 0.005 for a field gun.

Of course the question becomes what are you willing to put up with vs. the hassle of getting it changed. Assuming all else is as it should be, reducing the gap involves removing the barrel, machining the rear shoulder face so it will set back one thread and reinstalling it.
