I shot my first 3-gun event of the year with my new Witness TacII in 45 (new in January 03). I had a "shooting low" problem early on that seems to have taken care of itself now as the gun wears in with 500-600 rounds through it.

This event is fun. Staged and rules a lot like cowboy shooting with 5 stages, steel plate targets at 7, 15 and 25 yards, shooting in varying order with mixed reloads. Typically 18 rounds of pistol, 8 rounds of shotgun and 10 rounds of pistol-caliber carbine. It is somewhere in between IDPA and IPSC...just a lot less "serious".

Guns are a "stock" pistol (no major modifications, factory features kept to a minimum -- e.g., porting on the TAC II OK), pistol-caliber rifle/carbine (I used my Win 92 in 45 Colt) and pump shotgun. Autos are limited to 6 in a mag to normalize across revolver/autos. That's it, no power factors, not equipment races...just a lot of guys/gals having fun shooting as fast as possible but with a lot of thinking (mixes of double taps, sweeps, triple taps, forward/backward).

The Witness ran like a champ and there were no operator-induced misses (one light primer strike that was probably as a result of a not fully seated primer). The porting really helped keep the gun on task...I shot a lot faster than I hever have with my 1911.

The gun got a lot of favorable comments. Grip angle, overall look, porting, Wonder-finish. I think a converted a person or two to buy a Tanfoglio.
